We spent the day at a local orchard, Dispennetts, where Lily got a free caramel apple with her choice of toppings and got to paint a pumpkin. A great fall day. We also came home with 10 pounds of Ozark Gold apples. According to the owners, they are especially good apples for drying.
So, after we got home, I peeled, cut, and dipped as many as would fit into the Excalibur dryer. Got just about the whole ten pounds. The dryer can hold a massive amount. Dipping the apples into pineapple juice prevents them from browning and gives a hint of sweetness without adding processed sugars.
